Carina’s journey and teachings

Carina originally hails from a dance and movement background having performed contemporary dance from a young age and studied at Chichester University. Her first experience of yoga was back in 2012 after being invited to a hot yoga class. Little did she know that this would become the start of something that has compelled her ever since. ‘I fell in love with the physical practice of yoga straight away. I experienced a real sense of inner calm after a class and was able to achieve a stronger more supple body that was less prone to injury.’ As her yoga practiced deepened she witnessed a new found freedom, an inner peace and mental focus both on and off her mat.

In her early 20’s, Carina underwent 5 operations on her face after an attack on a night out and spent years trying to rebuild confidence within her own skin. In her early 30’s she battled cancer where she had to undertake 3 months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Carina has also dealt with traumas and addictions in which took her on a deeper understanding about herself. Using these things has a catalyst to grow and work through these hurdles make her who she is. Giving back to others through her personal experiences and growth is a priority for Carina. ‘Throughout my cancer treatment, yoga taught me the importance of just showing up and being present despite all the difficulties we may be experiencing.’ It was a time that introduced Carina to the non-physical practice of yoga and the benefits of breath work, mindfulness, meditation and the simple act of being still. All things she encompasses into her practice, in and out of the studio, to this very day.

‘Movement has always been my passion but anything that brings someone into a deeper connection of the mind and body is what yoga is all about for me.’

As an avid Ashtanga and Vinyasa practitioner, Carina has also explored many other styles of yoga. Her own practice has taken her to retreats and workshops around the world and she’s had the pleasure of multiple month long trips to Mysore in India. The latter developing her own practice under the teachings of Ajay Kumar and Vinay Kumar.

Carina is passionate about making yoga accessible yet challenging and finds real purpose in sharing her knowledge and connecting students to the practice’s higher purpose. From her acclaimed Restorative Reset class to her creative vinyasa flows, Carina’s uplifting classes take students of all levels on a creative journey exploring the use of body, mind and breath.
